Construction can begin on Redskins’ new training camp

WASHINGTON – The Richmond City Council has approved an amended agreement that gives the green light for construction to start on the Washington Redskins new training facility as soon as next week, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

The $10 million facility will be equipped with two full-size fields, a field for drills, locker rooms and weight rooms. It will be built behind the Science Museum of Virginia and includes the development of a sports medicine center.

As part of the package, Richmond Public Schools will have access to the field on specific days, which are still to be determined.

In June, the council approved a deal that keeps the team’s camp in Richmond for the next eight years. The Redskins previously held their training camp in Ashburn, Va.
