Fort Meade breaks ground with private housing for junior soldiers

Life is about to get much cozier for more than 1,400 young soldiers stationed at Fort George G. Meade, the Baltimore Business Journal reports.

Picerne Military Housing LLC has reached a deal with the U.S. Army on a $72 million public-private partnership and this month plans to break ground on the Army’s first on-post, garden-style apartment project for unmarried junior-level soldiers.

The project, called Reece Crossings, is slated to include 432 apartments ranging from 1,126-square-foot one-bedroom-plus-den units to 1,186-square-foot two-bedroom units.
