House passes bill to avoid shutdown — for now

WASHINGTON — WTOP’s Capitol Hill correspondent Dave McConnell says that the House has passed a spending bill that would be in effect through September and avoid a government shutdown.

They also passed a two-day continuing resolution, funding the government at current levels, to allow the Senate time to debate the proposal.

“This is a good bill,” said Rep. Jim Moran, D-Virginia; “this reflects our priorities, and this our last chance to have our priorities reflected in an appropriations bill.”
