Gaithersburg townhouse fire displaces 12

WASHINGTON — It took about 100 firefighters to get a fire under control Saturday evening in Montgomery County. More than a dozen residents of a Gaithersburg, Maryland townhouse community were displaced and several residents had to be evacuated near Fields Road Elementary School.

The fire broke out in the basement of a home before spreading to the rest of the building on Silver Kettle Court.

Montgomery County Fire says a resident and a firefighter were both injured in the blaze — but both injuries appear to be non life threatening but a dog has died as related to the fire.
