Pedestrian killed in Prince George’s crash; separate fatal in Balt. Co.

WASHINGTON – A man was struck and killed by a car Thursday morning while walking along a sidewalk in Fort Washington, police say.

Prince George’s County police officials say the crash happened just before 6:30 a.m. in the 9200 block of Livingston Road. At the time of the incident, police say that a driver fell asleep at the wheel and struck a curb near where a man was walking.

The driver woke up when the car hit the curb, police say, but he was unable to regain control of the vehicle before hitting the victim.

Police say speed, alcohol and drugs are not thought to be factors in the incident, which remains under investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident can call police at (301) 731-4422. Callers wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or text “PGPD plus a message” to 274637.

In a separate incident, authorities say a person was killed in a crash on Interstate 195 in Baltimore County Thursday morning.

A vehicle apparently went off of an overpass in the area near Interstate 95. I-195 eastbound was expected to be closed for several hours.
