Police: D.C. teen shot walking to school

WASHINGTON – An 18-year-old woman was shot in the leg during an attempted robbery Tuesday morning in D.C., officials say.

The teenager was reportedly on her way to school at Phelps Architecture, Construction, and Engineering High School in Northeast when she was shot in the 1400 block of Morris Road in Southeast at about 8:40 a.m.

Police say the girl was shot in the leg and her injuries were not life-threatening. A suspect in the case is described as a black male wearing a red jacket and a mask.
