Tolls rise on Dulles Toll Road

WASHINGTON – The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority’s board on Wednesday voted to high tolls on the Dulles Toll Road in 2013 and 2014.

The cost will go up, starting Jan. 1.

The tolls will go from the current $2.25 toll to $2.75 next year and to $3.50 in 2014.

The board deferred a final decision on higher tolls in 2015. It had been recommended that the tolls go to $4.50 in 2015.

The additional funds will help pay for the construction of Metro’s Silver Line.

The tolls are increasing by 25 cents at the main toll plaza and 25 cents on the entrance or exit ramps of the road that runs from the Capital Beltway to Dulles International Airport.

Tolls from the Dulles Toll Road are expected to make up approximately 75 percent of the cost of extending the Silver Line from Wiehle Avenue to Dulles International Airport and into Loudoun County.
