WASHINGTON — It’s been seven weeks since a woman’s children found her dead in the bedroom of her Arlington home, and police have still made no arrests.

Bonnie Black’s death is being ruled a homicide.

“We’re still awaiting DNA analysis from the state lab. When we have that, hopefully we’ll have a little bit more into this investigation,” says Dustin Sternbeck with Arlington County Police.

Investigators were back at the house this week collecting more evidence. They call the investigation a priority and say investigators have spent countless hours working on the unsolved case.

Sternbeck confirms that 42-year-old Black’s estranged husband, who she was fighting for custody of their kids, has not been taken into custody.

“He is cooperating with the police investigation throughout the duration of the investigation. He has not been taken into custody or detained,” Sternbeck says.

Sternbeck says there is no timeline when investigators expect to get DNA testing back from the state lab.
