WASHINGTON – First the nation’s children predicted President Barack Obama would win the election, now it’s Halloween costumes.

Obama masks are outselling those of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney 60 percent to 40 percent, according to Spirit Halloween, the country’s largest costume retailer.

The national chain has charted presidential mask sales throughout the country since 1996. Their “presidential index” has accurately called the race each time, CNN Money reports.

“A lot of people are going out and supporting their candidate by wearing their masks,” Lisa Barr, senior director of marketing for Spirit Halloween, told CNN.

Both masks start at $19.99.

Thanks to the debates, Big Bird costumes have also become a hot commodity. USA Today reports that costumes of the “Sesame Street” icon are selling out after Romney said he would cut funding to PBS if elected.
