Jessica Lange’s reaction to comparisons to Caitlyn Jenner: ‘That’s so wonderful’

WASHINGTON — Soon after the Vanity Fair cover of Caitlyn Jenner exploded online Monday, social media observers noticed Jenner’s striking resemblance to actress Jessica Lange.

The reaction from the Oscar-winning Lange, to being compared with the glamorously photographed Jenner, who made her post-Bruce debut: “That’s so wonderful.” When the Daily Beast called Lange to get her reaction to both Jenner and Lange’s names trending on Twitter, Lange needed a quick lesson on what trending means, since she’s not on Twitter. “You have to explain what that means to me,” Lange said. When the Daily Beast explained the overwhelmingly positive response to the Jenner photos in Vanity Fair, Lange seemed delighted. “Oh, really?” she said. “That’s so wonderful. Well now I’m going to have to look for that picture.” Lange, 66, who has won two Oscars, three Emmys, and five Golden Globes awards, acknowledged not understanding the online buzz. “I don’t do any of this stuff, the Internet,” Lange told the Daily Beast. “I have no clue when people use the terminology — I have to repeat it to understand.”

Jenner reached one million Twitter followers faster than anyone in history, displacing President Obama, who recently started a personal account.
