Barricade situation over, man in custody

WASHINGTON – A barricade situation in Laurel is over and a man is now in custody. There were no injuries.

Around 8 p.m. Wednesday night, police were called to a two-story apartment building involving an upset man who had locked himself in his apartment. He was thought to have a weapon.

Some businesses below the downtown Laurel apartment were evacuated and people moved to shelter. Main Street was closed between 7th Street and Route 1.
