New pizza deal weighs in at over 5,000 calories

WASHINGTON – Two medium, one-topping pizzas, eight wings and five breadsticks and marinara dipping sauce.

Pizza Hut is offering their new Big Dinner Box for $19.99.

While it may seem like a great deal for your wallet, it may not be as great a deal for your diet.

The Huffington Post estimates that Pizza Hut’s Big Dinner weighs in at more than 5,000 calories.

Even if the Big Dinner is shared among a family of four, that comes to 1,250 calories a piece.

According to ChooseMyPlate.gov, the average adult needs between 1,600 to 2,400 calories – a day.

Pizza Hut launched the whopping deal last week, on what they called “Red Roof Wednesday” — the day before Thanksgiving, which is typically a big day for take out.

Pizza Hut estimated they would sell 1 million pizzas on that day.
