Police seek public’s help in identifying suspect

WASHINGTON – Montgomery County police are asking for help from the public in identifying a suspect in a kidnapping attempt.

Police say the attempt happened Friday at the McDonald’s on Colesville Road in Silver Spring. A 13-year-old male was waiting at the counter when the suspect came into the restaurant, grabbed him from behind and tried to drag him outside.

The suspect identified himself as the police while he struggled with the victim. A security guard intervened and the suspect let go of the victim.

Detectives have released images of the suspect, described as a heavy-set black male with short, balding hair and a beard. They say he appears to be in his mid-50s and was last seen walking towards the Metro station.
