Nine injured after car hits Metro bus in SE D.C.

WASHINGTON – Nine people were injured Saturday evening when a car hit a Metro bus in southeast D.C.

Metro spokesman Steven Taubenkibel says a car struck the middle portion of a B2 bus heading to Anacostia.

The incident occurred on 18th Street and Independence Avenue around 6 p.m.

D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Lon Walls says the nine injured passengers were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Four of the passengers were children.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
