WASHINGTON – The Republican Party of Virginia has ordered a local affiliate to remove photos from its Facebook page depicting President Barack Obama as a witch doctor and caveman.

The photos were on the page of the Mecklenburg County Republican Committee. State GOP Chairman Pat Mullins tells The Washington Post the images “have no place in political discourse — period.”

The photos were still on the site Wednesday morning.
