WASHINGTON – It may look like a video effect, but this is actually the first movie taken in color that experts have dated to 1902.

The National Media Museum made the discovery. Before this, film chronologists had thought the first movie shot in color was taken in 1909 using the Kinemacoulor process, reports the BBC.

This video was taken by Edward Raymond Turner who lived in London in the turn of the 20th century. He patented his color process in 1899. He died young and never got to know the importance his work would have on film-making.
