Increased security on rails on Sept. 11 anniversary

WASHINGTON – On the anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001, both Metro and Amtrak will take increased security measures, but there aren’t any credible threats to rail systems.

Amtrak will have more screeners for passengers and baggage, along with K9 units and explosive detection teams.

More transit police, plain clothes officers and Transportation Security Administration officers will be present on Metro.

Transportation leaders are stressing the motto, “If you see something, say something.”
