WASHINGTON — Tired of having your social network account hacked? Try creating a better password.

SplashData, Inc. recently released their list of “25 Worst Passwords of 2011.”

It’s probably no surprise, but the worst password to use is, in fact, “password.” Others topping the list are: 123456, qwerty, monkey and dragon.

“Hackers can easily break into many accounts just by repeatedly trying common passwords,” SplashData CEO Morgan Slain told Mashable.

Despite the fact that people are encouraged to select strong passwords, many choose “easy-to-guess ones, placing themselves at risk from fraud and identity theft,” Slain said.

SplashData has an app called SplashID, a “password management software” that customizes and protects an unlimited amount of passwords and personal information for Windows Mobile, Android, Palm OS, Blackberry, iPad and iPhone users.
