Loudoun deck collapse to be investigated

LEESBURG, Va. – A Loudoun County building engineer will try to determine the cause of a deck collapse.

The home’s deck collapsed about 4:40 p.m. Sunday, injuring three people.

Fire spokesman Timothy Menzenwerth says says two dozen people were on the deck at the time. None of the injuries was life threatening.

A portion of the deck farthest from the house appears to have swung downward toward the ground. Before the collapse the deck was about 6 feet off the ground.

The house is located on the 14300 block of Loyalty Road between Point of Rocks and Leesburg.
