WASHINGTON – This week, overnight travel could be difficult near the Tysons Corner area. Between the hours of 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. Monday through Friday, HOT Lanes construction will be affecting traffic patterns on the Beltway between the George Washington Parkway and Braddock Rd. Temporary total closures are planned for I-495 between those points, and various full closures of the Dulles Toll Road. There will be a lot happening, so check out the list of major closures:
Monday through Friday between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m.
- I-495 both directions between the George Washington Parkway and the Georgetown Pike, temporary total closures for up to 30 minutes after midnight.
- I-495 both directions at Route 50/Arlington Blvd, temporary total closures for up to 30 minutes after midnight.
- I-495 Outer Loop at Route 7, temporary total closures for up to 30 minutes after midnight.
- I-495 Outer Loop before Braddock Rd, temporary total closures for up to 30 minutes after midnight.
- I-495 Inner Loop before and after I-66, temporary total closures for up to 30 minutes after midnight.
Dulles Toll Road/Route 267 construction
- EB Dulles Access Highway will be closed at I-495 Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights. Traffic will be diverted to the Toll Road, drivers will not be tolled.
- WB Dulles Access Highway will be closed at I-495 Wednesday and Thursday night. Traffic will be directed to the Toll Road, drivers will not be tolled.
- WB Dulles Connector Road will be closed at I-495 Monday through Thursday nights. Traffic will be diverted to the Inner Loop of I-495.
Closures for Monday night only:
- I-495 Outer Loop near the Dulles Toll Rd to Route 123: Three left lanes will be blocked between 9:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
- I-495 between the Eisenhower Avenue Connector and Telegraph Road: The right lane will be blocked between 9:00 p.m. and 5 a.m. A 15-minute closure is planned for just after midnight.
George Washington Parkway repairs
Northbound on the George Washington Parkway before Spout Run, the left lane will remain blocked at all times while crews work to repair the rock wall in that area.
Hunter Mill Road closed in Virginia
In Reston, Hunter Mill Road is closed between Hunter Station Road and Lawyers Road for bridge work over Difficult Run. The closure will remain in place until November 21, with a 3.2 mile detour in place. Crews will be installing a temporary bridge until plans for a permanent bridge are approved.
