Attorney General William Barr and the Justice Department are under close scrutiny as President Donald Trump’s longtime friend Roger Stone awaits sentencing in federal court. The president has made it clear that he thinks the recommended sentence for Stone is too harsh, and while Barr does too, he’s also trying to show that his department remains independent.
