Conservatives question character’s name in new “Batman”

WASHINGTON – What’s in a name? To conservative movie-goers, a lot, apparently.

Some Republicans are taking issue with the new Batman movie and its villain, Bane. The character shares a name with presumptive nominee Mitt Romney’s former venture capital company.

The company, Bain Capital, has been a hot topic for Democrats, who say Romney used it to export jobs overseas.

Now, conservatives such as Rush Limbaugh are wondering if the villian’s name isn’t part of a larger conspiracy.

“Do you think that it is accidental, that the name of the really vicious, fire-breathing, four-eyed, whatever-it-is villain in this movie is named Bane?” Limbaugh asked on his show yesterday.

This, despite the fact that the comic book character was created nearly 20 years ago.

“The Dark Knight Rises” opens everywhere Friday.
