Arlington man wins lotto twice in 3 months

WASHINGTON – An Arlington man is getting pretty good at cashing in giant checks – both in cash value and actual size.

Joseph Sylvester has won the Virginia Lottery twice in the last three months, $100,000 a pop.

“The second time is a little more routine,” he told Virginia Lottery officials.

On April 3, Sylvester matched all five numbers in the Cash 5 drawing. Exactly three months later, on July 3, he played and won again.

For his latest win, Sylvester used Easy Pick and allowed the computer to pick his winning numbers, 11-15-19-26-27, when he bought his ticket at the 7-Eleven on the 1500 block of South Fern Street.

After his first win, he bought a new truck and paid the bills, he says.

Virginia Lottery says the chances of winning the top $100,000 prize are 1 in 278,256.
