1 dead, 1 with life-threatening injuries after ATV accident

WASHINGTON — A man died and a woman sustained life-threatening injuries after their all-terrain vehicle overturned early Monday in Bowie, Maryland.

 Officers were called to the area of the WB & A Trail, off Race Track Road, after someone who lived near the trail reported hearing screams at about 2:41 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found the overturned ATV and the victims.

NBC Washington reports that Brandon Barnes, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene, and that Deandra Jones, 25, of Lanham, Maryland, was taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with serious head injuries and is still in grave condition.

ATVs are prohibited on the trail.
