Frederick County residents choose among 5 proposed slogans

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) — After officials sorted through more than 130 submissions, Frederick County residents can vote among five slogans.

County Executive Jan Gardner unveiled the final five on Friday. The winning slogan will appear on the county website, social media and signs.

According to The News-Post of Frederick (http://bit.ly/1Ci2tIM), the five proposal slogans are:

The Heart of Maryland

Where History Meets the Future

Gateway of Opportunity

Key to Maryland

Rich History, Bright Future

Residents can vote online at www.frederickcountymd.gov/slogan , or fill out paper ballots at county libraries or senior centers.

Voting ends at 4 p.m. on April 20.

Gunman sought in Md. shooting that wounded teen

WASHINGTON — Investigators are searching for a lone gunman who opened fire on the grounds of a Frederick, Maryland, church Monday evening, wounding a teenager. Four young friends were on the grounds of the Emmanuel Alliance Church on Ladd Lane, in Frederick, around 5 p.m. Monday when someone started shooting at them, the Frederick County Sheriff's Office said.
