Viral video shows kids reacting to VCR player (Video)

WASHINGTON — Kids are asking, “What is this thing?” to a piece of technology, but it’s not an 8-track player, first-edition Apple computer or larger-than-life cellphone.

A new viral video from the popular YouTube series, Kids React shows youngsters perplexed by the VCR.

“I think it’s a projection screen,” says 7-year-old Sydney of a black box placed in front of her.

Some kids surveyed know exactly what it is, while others say they have never heard of a VCR or VHS tape player before.

The kids — who say they use DVD and Blue-ray players, Xbox, Netflix and Hulu Plus to watch TV — were not impressed by the quality of the picture when they got the VHS player fired up.

“It looks like a blurry mess,” one boy says.

The video has been viewed more than 1 million times since it was posted Sunday.
