Edition of ‘Gone Girl’ among books to be auctioned

NEW YORK (AP) — Philip Roth, Gillian Flynn and Don DeLillo are among 75 authors and artists contributing annotated editions of their work for a PEN American Center auction.

PEN, the literary and human rights organization, announced Thursday that the “First Edition/Second Thoughts” auction will be held Dec. 2 at Christie’s New York. Flynn’s “Gone Girl,” Roth’s “Portnoy’s Complaint” and other notable works will include author commentary, from essays and letters to drawings and photographs.

Other featured books include Robert Caro’s “The Power Broker,” DeLillo’s “Underworld” and Patti Smith’s “Just Kids.” Glenn Ligon, Richard Serra and Kiki Smith are among the participating visual artists.
