NEW YORK (AP) — Investors are still anxiously awaiting Friday’s government report on the U.S. labor market as trading resumes later today. Stocks returned to record levels on Wall Street yesterday as the S&P 500 rose 500 points to 2,023.57. That surpassed the previous record set just last Friday. Asian markets wavered between gains and losses today.
UNDATED (AP) — There are two major government reports scheduled for release today: weekly jobless claims and third-quarter productivity data. Also, Freddie Mac will report the weekly mortgage rates as well as its quarterly financial results. Fannie Mae will report earnings today along with The Walt Disney Co. And selected chain retailers will release October sales figures.

BETHESDA, Md. (AP) — American Capital Ltd. plans to split into three companies and cut an unspecified number of jobs.The Bethesda, Maryland-based private equity and asset management firm says under the plan, it will transfer most of its investment assets into two new companies and it would operate primarily as an asset management business. The arrangement would ultimately result in three publicly traded companies.
CANTON, Miss. (AP) — Nissan Motor Co. says it wants to produce 507,000 vehicles a year at its Mississippi plant by 2017, an expansion that would add about 1,000 employees to the current 6,300 workers at the complex. John Martin, Nissan North America’s senior vice president for manufacturing, supply chain management and purchasing, made the announcement yesterday at an event unveiling the first Murano SUV made at the plant.
