Seattle signs 17-year-old to homegrown contract

SEATTLE (AP) — The Seattle Sounders have signed 17-year-old Victor Mansaray to the fourth homegrown contract in club history.

Seattle announced the signing on Wednesday. Mansaray joins DeAndre Yedlin, Aaron Kovar and Sean Okoli as homegrown players signed by Seattle.

Mansaray was born in Sierra Leone and lived briefly in Jamaica before settling in Fife. Mansaray has played two seasons in the Sounders youth academy and scored 18 goals for the Sounders under-16 team. Mansaray also has played for the U.S. under-18 team.

Mansaray will not be officially added to Seattle’s roster until Jan. 1.
