Ardagh Group opens plant in Roanoke County

ROANOKE, Va. (AP) — Packaging manufacturer Ardagh Group has opened a $93.5 million plant in Roanoke County that will employ 100 workers.

The plant will manufacture light weight metal cans and traditional three-piece food cans.

Roanoke County Economic Development says officials from Ardagh and ConAgra participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the plant on Monday. Ardagh has a supply agreement with ConAgra.

Ardagh Group, Metal Americas CEO James Willich says in a news release that the company chose Roanoke County for several reasons, including a well-developed infrastructure and the availability of skilled labor.
