AP source: Dolphins’ Thomas likely needs surgery

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Miami Dolphins reserve defensive back Michael Thomas has been placed on the reserve-injured list with a chest injury, ending his season.

The move came Monday, the day after Thomas was hurt in the Dolphins’ 37-0 victory over San Diego. He expected to undergo surgery.

Thomas played in nickel and dime packages this year and was a key contributor on special teams. He made a game-winning interception in his NFL debut last December against New England’s Tom Brady.
