MIAMI (AP) — Hurricane Vance is maintaining its strength in the Pacific off Mexico’s coast.

The hurricane’s maximum sustained winds early Monday remain near 105 mph (165 kph). The U.S. National Hurricane Center says Vance could strengthen a little more later in the day but is expected to start weakening Monday night.

The hurricane is centered about 505 miles (810 kilometers) southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico, and is moving northwest near 14 mph (22 kph).

The Hurricane Center says swells generated by Vance are expected to begin affecting parts of Mexico’s southwestern coast and Baja California in a day or two. Those swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.
