Va. War Memorial collecting flags for disposal

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — The Virginia War Memorial and the American Legion are collecting American flags in poor condition for proper disposal.

Old, worn and soiled American flags can be brought to the memorial in Richmond beginning Nov. 8 through Nov. 16. Last November, about 1,000 American flags were collected.

The war memorial says the flags will be collected and retired as part of a formal ceremony by members of American Legion Post 84 in Henrico County.
