1 dead in Lovettsville fire

WASHINGTON — A 70-year-old man and his dog have died after a fire at a home in Lovettsville, Virginia.

When Loudoun County firefighters arrived at the house in the 12000 block of Taylorstown Road just after 8 p.m. Sunday and found the person inside the home, according to spokeswoman Aleksandra Kowalski.

The name of the victim has not been released.

Fire marshals were continuing their investigation Monday.

Many people don't realize Loudoun County, Virginia, has 300 miles of unpaved roads until their car's navigation system takes them from a busy commuter route onto an unexpected gravel road. Preservation Virginia — a privately-funded, statewide historical preservation group — has added Loudoun County's rural road network to its "2020 Virginia's Most Endangered Historic Places" list.
