Howard tops Delaware State 17-10

WASHINGTON (AP) — Greg McGhee was just 7 of 12 for 90 yards — but threw two touchdowns passes — and Howard survived a late scare to beat Delaware State 17-10 on Saturday.

William Parker ran for 151 yards on 29 carries for Howard (2-7, 1-5 Mid Eastern Athletic Conference).

Howard’s John Fleck kicked a 25-yard field goal at the end of the first quarter for a 3-0 lead. Delaware State (2-8, 2-4) responded with a 33-yard field goal by Mitchell Ward midway through the second quarter. On Howard’s next possession, McGhee found Richard Aiyegoro for a 52-yard touchdown pass and the Bison led at intermission 10-3.

Less than two minutes into the fourth quarter, Howard went up 17-3 on McGhee’s 8-yard scoring pass to William Parker.

Delaware State made it a one-score game with 8:39 left on an 18-yard touchdown run by Jamaal Jackson, but Howard hung on for the win.
