Navy sets sights on upsetting No. 6 Notre Dame

LANDOVER, Md. (AP) — Navy’s hopes of upsetting No. 6 Notre Dame on Saturday night rest heavily on the effectiveness of quarterback Keenan Reynolds.

Reynolds ran for 251 yards and three touchdowns against San Jose State last week. A year ago, he directed the triple option well enough against the Fighting Irish to ring up 34 points in a narrow defeat.

But the Midshipmen have been inconsistent this season, so to beat Notre Dame they must be nearly flawless.

Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo says, “”To even have a chance, we have to play perfect and they have to help us a little bit.”

The Midshipmen are 4-4. Notre Dame’s only loss this season was 31-27 against defending champion Florida State.
