Poll shows Warner ahead by 7 percentage points

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A new poll shows incumbent Sen. Mark Warner with a seven percentage-points lead over Republican challenger Ed Gillespie.

A Wason Center for Public Policy at Christopher Newport University poll released Friday shows that likely voters favor Warner 51 percent to 44 percent over Gillespie.

Gillespie’s support has grown over the course of several CNU polls since this summer, but Warner’s support has never dipped below 50 percent.

The poll comes just days before the Nov. 4 Election Day.

The survey of 819 registered voters, including 634 likely voters, was conducted between Oct. 23 and Oct. 29. The margin of error is 3.9 percent.
