Tropical Storm Vance forms in the Pacific

MIAMI (AP) — Tropical Storm Vance, the 20th named storm of the Pacific season, has formed well off the coast of Mexico.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said Thursday that Vance was not an immediate threat to land.

Vance had maximum sustained winds of 40 mph (65 kph) and was moving west at 5 mph (8 kph). It was centered about 415 miles (670 kilometers) south of Acapulco, Mexico.
