Md. woman pleads guilty to embezzling $1.2M

GREENBELT, Md. (AP) — A Marydel woman has pleaded guilty to embezzling $1.2 million from her employer.

Forty-five-year-old Janice McCumbie entered the plea Wednesday in federal court in Greenbelt. She faces up to 20 years in prison at sentencing on Jan. 27.

According to her plea agreement, McCumbie worked for an international consulting business that had offices in Maryland. Prosecutors say McCumbie, who was responsible for coordinating client refunds, wrote fraudulent refund checks to her co-conspirators.
