LA PAZ, Bolivia (AP) — Electoral authorities say President Evo Morales’ party retained two-thirds control of Bolivia’s legislative assembly in this month’s elections.

The result announced Wednesday would make it easier for Morales to seek indefinite re-election because a two-thirds majority is required to amend the constitution. An amendment would then need to be approved by voters.

Morales won a third consecutive term in the Oct. 12 balloting, garnering 61 percent of the vote.

Bolivia’s first indigenous president said afterward that he’s not thinking about a fourth term.

Morales’ Movement Toward Socialism party won 25 of the Senate’s 36 seats and 89 of the 130 seats in the lower house.
