DC teen’s parent sues in teacher sex case

WASHINGTON (AP) — The mother of a 17-year-old District of Columbia student is suing for $11 million after a substitute teacher was arrested on charges of sexually assaulting him.

The family’s attorney says the teen is learning-disabled and that 22-year-old Symone Greene of Fort Washington should have known better. Greene is charged with sexually assaulting the teen at the Options Public Charter School in Northeast Washington on Oct. 17.

Greene’s attorney didn’t return a call for comment Wednesday.

The lawsuit was filed Tuesday in Prince George’s County Circuit Court. It names Greene, the Delaware-based firm that supplied her to the school, and the D.C. Public Charter School Board.

The Washington Post reports (http://wapo.st/1tCQTVO ) that the lawsuit alleges battery, neglect in hiring practices and infliction of emotional distress.

A school board spokesman declined to comment.
