Brown student reports rape, thinks punch was laced

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A Brown University student reports she was sexually assaulted after she and a classmate drank an alcoholic punch they believe was laced with a date-rape drug at a fraternity party.

A university vice president says that Brown has suspended the group that hosted the Oct. 17 event. The campus-wide alert was first reported by The Brown Daily Herald.

The woman reported the assault to campus police. If she wants a criminal investigation, she must report it to Providence police. The city agency says it hasn’t received a report of the alleged assault.

Phi Kappa Psi fraternity members told the campus newspaper in a letter that they are confident no fraternity member was involved and said the suspension was because it hosted an event with alcohol without permission.
