Wegmans has another Loudoun store in the works

WASHINGTON — Wegmans plans to open a Loudoun County store off U.S. 50 near Arcola, Virginia, if some zoning and development details get worked out.

Dulles District Supervisor Matt LeTourneau confirmed that Wegmans has a contract to buy a piece of the Arcola Center to develop a new store.

The Wegmans contract is contingent on some changes to the development itself and there is no timeline for construction, LeTourneau said.

Wegmans would also wait at least two years after its new Chantilly store opens next year before moving forward with the Arcola Center store.

A large rezoning application from the developers of Arcola Center would need approval before the Wegmans store could move forward.

Letourneau’s message to constituents, which confirmed the “rumor” about a Wegmans coming to Arcola Center, also said that the developer is talking to several other large retail tenants, without naming them.

He said Wegmans has been one of the most requested retailers in the area, is a very attractive tenant, and makes it easier to recruit other retailers.

Wegmans already operates Loudoun County stores in Dulles and Leesburg.
