Holy Cross holds off Lafayette 24-14

EASTON, Pa. (AP) — Peter Pujals threw for a touchdown and ran in another to lead Holy Cross to a 24-14 win over Lafayette on Saturday.

Holy Cross (3-6, 1-2 Patriot League) quickly built a 21-0 lead in the first half with touchdown runs from Diquan Walker and Pujals, who also found Jake Wieczorek for a 29-yard TD pass. Connor Fitzgerald had a 24-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to pad the lead for the Crusaders, who snapped a five-game losing streak.

Pujals finished 9 of 15 for 135 yards and added another 115 yards on the ground with 26 carries as the Crusaders outgained Lafayette in total yardage 404-307.

Lafayette (3-5, 1-2) was led by Drew Reed, who was 19 of 33 for 192 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. It’s the first back-to-back loss this season for the Leopards, who fell to Harvard last Saturday.
