WASHINGTON — A D.C. man is facing several charges after a police-involved shooting in Bladensburg, Maryland, Sunday night. 

Prince George’s County police have charged Davon Hight, 29, of Southeast D.C., with possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance (PCP), controlled dangerous substance possession not marijuana, and handgun on person.

The Bladensburg Police Department launched an internal investigation following the shooting. They called in Prince George’s County police to handle the initial criminal investigation.

Just after 9 p.m. Sunday, Bladensburg police responded to the report of an armed man in the 5200 block of Newton Street. There was a foot chase and officers fired shots, Prince George’s County police said. The suspect was hit in the lower body and taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The suspect’s weapon was recovered and what police believe to be PCP was found at the scene.
