2 companies bid for former Lane plant

VERONA, Miss. (AP) — A bankruptcy court filing shows two companies have submitted bids to buy Lane Furniture Industries former office and warehouse in Verona, Mississippi.

It is one of 17 properties that belonged to the now- defunct Furniture Brands International, which went into bankruptcy.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1zky4Lj ) that the filing identifies the companies as United Furniture Industries and McCormick Drive LLC.

Heritage Home Group announced earlier this year it was auctioning 17 Thomasville and Lane properties in all, mostly in North Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee.

It is the umbrella company for Lane, Broyhill, Thomasville, Drexel Heritage, Maitland Smith and other furniture companies that were once part of the now-defunct Furniture Brands International.

A hearing to approve the winning bid is scheduled for December.
