Md. trooper struck while inside parked cruiser

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) — State police say charges are pending against a driver who hit a state trooper’s parked cruiser while the trooper was conducting a traffic stop on the shoulder of Interstate 270 in Rockville.

Police say it’s possible that the driver, 21-year-old Lomosbog Yu, had been drinking.

The police car was hit shortly after 3:30 am. on Saturday. Trooper Marcus Holland was inside the car at the time. He was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released about two hours later. Yu was also taken to a hospital.

Police say Holland is the third trooper in less than a month to be struck on the side of a roadway in the Washington suburbs. In both previous cases, police say the driver was intoxicated.
