WASHINGTON — A calendar of Capitals players posing with adorable puppies – what more could you want? Washington hockey players teamed up with their own pets and rescue dogs to shoot the 2015 Caps Canine Calendar Friday, and it’s all for charity.

Alexander Ovechkin, Niklas Backstrom, Braden Holtby, Joel Ward, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Dmitry Orlov and others spent the day making friends with a variety of rescue dogs.

The team has been creating these calendars for at least a few years, which benefits Homeward Trails Animal Rescue. The furry models participating in the calendar shoot came from the shelter, which works throughout the Mid-Atlantic region to find homes for dogs and cats.

The 2015 Caps Canine Calendar will be available for purchase on Dec. 2.
