Baltimore mayor to announce body camera group

BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake is expected to announce that a working group will assess the potential use of body cameras for police in the city.

The mayor and police commissioner are expected to make the announcement Friday. The working group is expected to look at how a body camera program might be implemented in the city, including cost and privacy concerns as well as the storage of video.

Officers in the District of Columbia began wearing the cameras in this month. About 160 officers were being outfitted with the cameras, but D.C.’s police chief says she hopes to expand that to the entire department within three years.
