2 killed, 1 hurt in Alexandria shooting

WASHINGTON — Two people were killed and one has serious injuries after a shooting in Alexandria, Virginia, Sunday. Alexandria police responded to a report of a shooting at 8:45 p.m. in the 200 block of North Pickett Street, just across the street from a residential building called the Hallmark. A 17-year-old girl from Alexandria was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect, Yerson Nunez Lopez, 19, of Maryland, was also found dead at the scene with self-inflicted injuries. A 15-year-old boy from Alexandria was taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. He is in stable condition. Police say the suspect and the victims knew each other. This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call detectives at 703-746-8751. This is the sixth homicide in Alexandria this year.
